Brighton Marathon 2016 [photos]

My second time supporting the Brighton Marathon and once again, the weather did not disappoint! This year we decided to stay in Brighton for a couple of nights and book an airbnb apartment with friends. Not all of us were running but we still had a great time watching the runners and cheering people in.

On Saturday the Mini Mile takes place in Preston Park, a chance for the kids to show their parents how it is done! We visited our friend as his son was running, although the weather was horrid on the walk to the park the sun came out for his slot. It might only be a mile but those kids are speedy!

We knew a few runners taking part this year – Dan, Tim, Susie and the Winchester and District Athletics Club members – so we had plenty of people to cheer on. We waited at the half way marker and then about a mile towards the end.

This is a great race for spectators as it is really easy to see the runners start (including the elites) and then head down to the seafront for a couple more sightings. The only thing to be aware of is the time it takes to get anywhere. There are a lot of people out and only certain places you can cross the course.  Finally, allow for a good 20 minutes to get to the finishing village to meet your runner!

Some photos from the event.
