I took up a last minute slot at the London Poppy Walk at the weekend. This was a very well organised 10k walk, finding hidden trails and answers to quiz questions along the way.
Organised by the Royal British Legion, the walk started off in Bunhill Fields, then headed over to Shoreditch. The route then took us through Brick Lane, down towards Whitechapel and onto St Katharine’s Dock.
Once at St Katharine’s Dock, we took in the sights of crossing Tower Bridge before heading back across the Thames via London Bridge. The walk finished off by heading North, past the Barbican, back to the start point. We were greeted with refreshments and a very weighty medal.
The walk was good fun, and very easy for those who have a decent level of fitness. Having the quiz included made it much more interesting than just walking the streets of London. The entire event was very well organised by the team and I would recommend this to anyone looking for something a little different and a way to explore somewhere you think you might know.
What do the Royal British Legion do?
